One individual person being racist does directly affect me.

Why?

Because racism is a system that uphold the white supremacist idea that white people are superior to PoC.

When one individual person does something racist, they are upholding that system and contributing to the continued oppression of PoC.

That is why I don’t like it when individual people are racist and why I will continue to call them on it.

It’s a simple concept, really.

Long before Flavor Flav got caught up in the matrix of Hollywood, we took pride in those empowering words of Public Enemy ‘Fight the power… Fight the powers that be’
Sadly, we’ve become so desensitized and numb to struggle that we’ve settled for less than what our children deserve. It has become normal for our young men to be shot down or unjustly imprisoned, It has become not only okay but glorified on Black Entertainment Television to exploit and promote immoral sexual behavior as well as violence on a daily basis, yet the opposing voices are not heard. It has become normal for a significant number of black youth to drop out or fail out of school. We blame one another for all injustices and take sides with the oppressor, rather than recognizing the long lasting effects that oppression has had on each of us as individuals as well as how it has broken down the family unit.
If this system of ignorance within our community continues on unchecked then we are preparing our children for a worst environment then the one we so nonchalantly shake our heads at.

If you really truly want justice for people, then you shouldn't support hate or further ignorance of another problem (or hate that's thrown around).

Origins of the word cracker: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cracker_%28pejorative%29

someonewhowantstostayprivate said: I wish to keep my identity private, since I usually enjoy following you and I agree with your opinions. You're right that "reverse" sexism and racism don't exist. There is simply sexism and racism. BUT, I mean it applies to everyone. It is a two way street. That's akin to saying it's only genocide if it's Nazis killing Jewish people. I apologize for the overly dramatic example, but it's true. I wish you could have a 30 day trial at my school, where white kids are spit on for being white.

I went to a predominantly white high school and the amount of racism that I’ve seen and experienced does not amount to white kids being spit on for being white. I’ve had friends called nigger in front of me, had a white friend make a joke about putting the two “monkeys” (referring to me and a friend) in the middle, had a white man call my father a nigger right in front of me while out shopping in public.

White kids may get spit on at your school, but after they leave that hostile environment you have a safe place to go to. They do not have to worry about encountering that environment while they are shopping or in other public places. As a person of color I do not have that option. Look at Travyon Martin he was just walking home and was deemed “suspect” because he was what? a young black man with his hoodie up.

He was automatically deemed dangerous even though all he had on him was a bag of skittles and some iced tea. And look how long it’s taking the courts to decide whether or not Zimmerman is guilty. Look at the comments on articles pertaining to the court case and count how many people support Zimmerman even though he pulled the trigger and killed an innocent young man. Look how many people tried to make Travyon out to be a thug and look at how the media included that there was weed in his pockets. YOU DO NOT EXPERIENCE RACISM. As people of color we experience more than just getting spit on.

When I go out to shop I have white people who will see me in an isle and not go down it, but as soon as I leave they will venture down the aisle.  Racism does not apply to everyone because what you are experiencing is not racism it can’t compare to all the bullshit people of color must face every single day. As a person of color, specifically a black person we are deemed hostile, dangerous, untrustworthy, and a whole lot of other negative things I’m leaving out. So no it’s not the same you might get spit on in school, but I get spit on by the entire world hows about that.

30 day trial

For every white person that complains of reverse racism we should give them a 30 day trial of what racism actually feels like so maybe then they will shut the fuck up. White people have no idea what racism feels like. no someone calling you a cracker or honky is not racism. someone calling you a white girl or a white boy or whitey is not racism. Same with men who complain of reverse sexism. that shit does not exist. At ALL. Period. please stop. it’s not cute. Reverse sexism and reverse racism do not exist.

Ignore them. Don’t reblog them. Don’t argue with them. Please stop submitting every new one that pops up. I am pretending as if they don’t exist. You should too. Don’t dignify their pretend oppression with any acknowledgement whatsoever.

But if you do choose to respond to them, use as many f words as you can muster. Most of those fuckers need to go drink a glass of gasoline.

Pretending our problems don’t exist doesn’t make them go away. Is it because I’m right that you’re so offended you racist fuck?

This comment is just wait

laughing

Pretending our problems don’t exist. Our problems. Oh man I can’t

Oh no won’t someone think of the white peoplez? plz?
